Bythites Reinhardt, 1835
Body short. Depth at anus 5-6 times in SL. Teeth somewhat separate, needle-like. Palatine teeth present. Anterior gill arch with O-1 developed raker. Head without scales. Caught in bottom trawls between 200 and 800 m depths. Viviparous.
