Pseudotriakis Capello, 1868
Diagnosis: spiracles very large, as long as eyes; teeth minute and very numerous. First dorsal fin extremely long, at least as long as caudal fin, low and broadly rounded above. Colour: back and belly dusky brown/grey, with posterior edges of pelvic, dorsal, anal and caudal fins darker. Size: males to 2.7 m, females to 2.95 m TL.
Habitat: benthic, usually on continental slope, between 200 and 1,500 m, occasionally on continental shelf. Food: bottom-living fishes. Reproduction: ovoviviparous; recorded with two embryos; size at birth about 90 cm
Distribution: Iceland, western Scotland and Ireland, Portugal, Madeira, Azores. Elsewhere, western North and eastern central Atlantic, western Indian Ocean, western and central Pacific.
