Diagnosis: pelvic disc with anterior membrane lacking or vestigial; if latter, much shallower in ventral midline than length of pelvic spinous ray; rear edge of disc emarginate, fifth branched ray shorter than fourth. Dl VI; D2 I + 11; A I + 10; P 17-18. Scales in lateral series 27-28. Vertebrae 28. Colour: predorsal area, nape and cheeks with many pale spots; dark blotches along lateral midline. Size: to 6.5 cm.
