Diagnosis: body broad and rounded anteriorly. Head length about 2.3 times in SL. Disc length about 2.8 times in SL (about equal to head length). First dorsal fin with 6 spines, not forming a crest, fin thinly covered by skin, all spines visible; second dorsal fin with about 11 rays. Poorly ossified bony tubercles present all over body, head, and tail, but absent from fins. Tubercles on dorsal and lateral surfaces of head and on posterior part of body look like warts. Skin of chin, throat and tail with many thick, prominent wrinkles. Dermal papillae present on lower jaw in a row below lip. Colour: in life, no data. Size: 90 mm SL (only one specimen reported).

Habitat: known only from Eggvin Bank near Jan Mayen Is. Food: no data. Reproduction: no data.

Distribution: no data, but probably at least at appropriate bottoms and depths around Jan Mayen I. and possibly the Greenland Sea.
