Diagnosis: body elongate, its depth 11-12 times in SL. Head more than 4 times in SL; upper jaw about equal to snout, its tip distinctly behind nostril; teeth and gillrakers absent. Dorsal fin well behind midpoint of body, with 10-12 finrays; pectoral finrays 15-17; pelvic fins behind dorsal fin origin, with 9 finrays; anal fin far back, with 22-24 finrays. Lateral line scales (no data). Vertebrae 64-65. Colour: dark brownish. Size: to 24.2 cm.
