Diagnosis: snout long. Jaws strongly curved. Dorsal fin with 91-98 rays; its origin above myomeres nos. 5-7. Anal fin with 43-58 rays; its origin 13-19 myomeres posterior to anus. Myomeres 100-110. Pectoral fins long, 5-10% of standard length. Colour: skin brown-pigmented. No lateral spots. Size: 53-103 mm.

Habitat: epi- and bathypelagic. Food: no data. Reproduction: no data.

Distribution: three specimens known from the North and South Atlantic and from the Southwest Pacific.
