Diagnosis: dorsal finrays 72-79; anal finrays 58-65, pectoral finrays 22-29. Diameter of eye 21-29% of head length. Size: to about 250 mm.

Distribution: known from two specimens within the area between Ireland and Iceland. Elsewhere, north-western Atlantic and Gulf of Guinea.
