Diagnosis: dorsal finrays 109-111; anal finrays 79-83; pectoral finrays 31-32. Becomes ripe at a relatively small size. Size: to about 120 mm.

Habitat: caught at depths between 480 and 1,000 m. Food: no data. Reproduction: viviparous.

Distribution: a few specimens from off the west coast of Europe and several specimens from the Ligurian Sea.
