Diagnosis: predorsal length about 50% SL. Anterior gill arch with 29-30 long rakers. Dorsal finrays 71-85; anal finrays 60-66. Colour: body greyish, transparent, yellow or darkish around jaws and eyes; fins bluish with their bases ochrous. Size: to 100 mm SL.

Habitat: bathyal and abyssal depths. Food: no data. Reproduction: vlvlparous.

Distribution: two specimens known: one from 44°29' N, 13°32' W, and one just west of the area, 39°11' N, 30°44'40" W.

Eggs, larvae and young stages. Nielsen, 1969: 53. The holotype is a juvenile form.
Otoliths (sagitta). No data.
