Diagnosis: see genus. Teeth size does not differ markedly between sexes. Dl V, D2 I + 7-10, A I + 9-10, P 15-16. Scales in lateral series 25-30. Vertebrae 30. Colour: body transparent, with rosy stippling on sides, head and bases of median fins; caudal fin base with large triangular dark spot. Size: to 3.5 cm.

Habitat: nektonic, over sandy beaches, December-February (Majorca). Food: no data. Reproduction: June. Females mature at 2.6-2.7 cm.

Distribution: Mediterranean (western basin and Adriatic).

Eggs, larvae and young stages. No data.
Otoliths (sagitta). No data.
