Diagnosis: eye in head 2.5-2.7. Preopercular spine formula - 2/- 1 (see fig), no antrorse spine at base. Dl IV; D2 9; A 8. Colour: pale yellowish, marbled with lighter dark-edged blotches. First dorsal and anal dark. Size: to 6.3 cm.

Habitat: benthic, on muddy bottoms, at 310-320 m. Food: small bottom invertebrates. Reproduction. no data; pelagic eggs and larvae.

Distribution: only known from the Great Meteor Bank (south of the Azores, west of Madeira).
