Diagnosis: esca of females with a stout internally pigmented anterior appendage, about twice the length of escal bulb, bearing distally 2-3 stout filaments; a varying number of highly filamentous medial appendages; a tapering posterior appendage with 2 small filaments; 4 highly branched antero-lateral appendages on each side; no lateral appendages.

Distribution: besides holotype and paratype from east and south-east off Madeira, only two tentatively referred specimens, one from eastern Atlantic near equator another from the Irminger Sea. are recorded
