Diagnosis: esca of females with a stout internally pigmented anterior appendage less than half length of escal bulb to nearly twice length of bulb in largest specimens; medial appendages absent; posterior ap pendage distally divided into numerous short filaments; a filamentous antero-lateral appendage on each side; no lateral appendages.

Distribution: central and North Atlantic; a specimen from the Irminger Sea the only record from Clofnam area.

Eggs, larvae and young stages. USNM 207856,11.5 mm.
Otoliths (sagitta). No data.
