Diagnosis: first dorsal finrays 13-14, second dorsal finrays 17-18, third dorsal finrays 19-22; first anal finrays 22-23, second anal finrays 17-21. Vertebrae 50-52. Predorsal distance shorter (29.9-31.9% of head length) than in Th. chalcogramma (28.1-29.2%), caudal peduncle deeper (4.0-4.6% and 3.0-3.5% respectively), head longer (23.0-26.3% and 21.8-24.2% respectively), eye smaller (19.6-19.9% and 20.7-25.7% of head length respectively). Colour: back navy blue, 2 or 3 stripes of dark spots on sides and 2 under third dorsal fin, belly silvery white. Size: 47, 49 and 61 cm SL; four specimens are known, three of which were preserved and studied.

Distribution: south-western Barents Sea off Finmark.
