Diagnosis: head 34-40% of SL. Gillrakers 3-4 + 12-15. D III + 15-17; A I + 8-9, V I + 7. Origin of anal fin under second to fourth from last ray of dorsal fin, insertion of pelvic fins slightly behind that of pectoral fins. Scale rows from nape to caudal base 32-36; diagonal rows from origin of dorsal fin 10-11. Size: 2.2-2.9 cm SL (mature adults).

Habitat: bathypelagic; adults mainly below 150-200 m. Food: no data. Reproduction: no data.

Distribution: eastern Atlantic, Indo-Pacific, and central North Pacific.

Eggs, larvae and young stages. Ebeling, 1962: 96, fig. 34B-C (post-larvae).
Otoliths (sagitta). No data.
