Diagnosis: head 2.6-3.1 in BL. Length of pectoral fins 6.6-8.3 and length
of pelvic fins 7.9-10.6 in BL. Height of anterior dorsal fin lobe 5.4-10.6 and height of anterior anal fin lobe 5.5-8.0 in BL. Dorsal finrays 19-24; anal finrays 19-22; pectoral finrays 13-15. Predorsal scales 250-320. Vertebrae 78-80. Size: to 44 cm BL, which equals about 70 cm SL.

Habitat: epipelagic, neritic. Food: small fishes. Reproduction: no data.

Distribution: one specimen recorded from the Mediterranean. It is considered a recent immigrant from the Red Sea via the Suez Canal. Elsewhere, in the western Indo-Pacific.

Eggs, larvae and young stages. No data.
Otoliths (sagitta). No data.
