Genus Entelurus

Entelurus Dumeril, 1870

Superior trunk and tail ridges continuous, inferior trunk and tail ridges discontinuous, lateral trunk ridge confluent with inferior tail ridge; body ridges inconspicuous in sub-adults and adults. Dorsal fin extends above 7-11 trunk rings; membranous pectoral fin present in juveniles (to about 70 mm), the fin absent in sub-adults and adults; anal fin absent; caudal fin rudimentary. Brood area of male located under trunk, without pouch plates or membranous folds, the eggs unprotected.
