Genus Trigla

Trigla Linnaeus, 1758

Head without deep occipital groove. Pectoral fins long, the longest ray reaching backwards to the fourth or sixth anal finray. Lateral line scales small and tubular; breast scaleless; body scales small, more than 100 along the longest longitudinal series.
Very wide geographical distribution from cold to tropical waters; wide range of bathymetrical distribution from 50 to 700 depth.
