Genus Rosenblattichthys

Rosenblattichthys Johnson, 1974

Basihyal short, teeth on tongue present over basihyal and first two bas branchials. Dorsal finrays 8-10; anal finrays 21-24; pectoral finrays 21 26; pelvic fin insertion in adult slightly before dorsal fin origin. Scales in lateral line 47-53. Vertebrae 46-51. Luminous tissue presumably absent. Dermal pigment stripes absent.
Larvae with extremely deep body and massive, elongate head (head exceeding 30% SL); also, one peritoneal pigment section only and with distinctive (for each species) accessory pigment spots and areas. Metamorphosis gradual, occurring over a size range of about 20-60 mm SL.

Species 3; in Clofnam area I probable species.
