Genus Evermannella

Evermannella Fowler, 1901

Tubular eyes directed upward and slightly forward; horizontal eye diameter much greater than inter-orbital width; aperture in adipose eyelid distinctly greater than lens diameter; a distinct elliptical lens pad present in all post-metamorphic specimens. At least some dentary and palatine teeth lanceolate and barbed; front palatine tooth a large lanceolate fang, 4.6-7.3% SL; dentary teeth biserial. A large, vertically elongate fossa centred on dentary symphysis. Pyloric caecum absent. Luminous tissue may be present (unconfirmed). Larvae with three peritoneal pigment sections.
