Flatfishes with the eyes on the left side in 3 genera, and on the right side in 2 genera (including the only Clofnam representative, Citharus). Pelvic fins with 1 spine and 5 soft finrays; dorsal fin in front of upper eye. Anus on eyed side.
Benthic on continental shelf.
