Parabrotula Zugmayer, 1911
Snout rather pointed. Teeth on dentaries, occasionally on vomer, but never on premaxillaries. 21-23 vertebrae anterior to first anal finray. Skin black or brownish.
Newly born larvae have no yolk-sac but are provided with 3 long ribbon-like processes (trophotaeniae) which originate from a peduncle formed around the anus.
