Genus Ophidion

Ophidion Linnaeus, 1758

Elongate body with pelvic fins placed below or a little in front of eyes. Rays of each pelvic fin unequal in length. Scales absent on head.
Often hiding on the bottom on the continental shelf in tropical and temperate waters. Oviparous.
