Rather elongate body. Eye equal to or slightly shorter than snout. Opercular spine strong. Preoperculum with 2-3 more or less distinct spines at lower angle. Median basibranchial tooth patch single.
Caught in bottom trawls at 200 1,870 m. Oviparous.
