Sub-orbital papillae with longitudinal row a around lower edge of orbit; rows a and c without transverse proliferation; row b represented by merely 1 or 2 papillae. No head canals. Anterior back, predorsal area and head naked. Anterior nostril a short tube, lacking process from rim. Pectoral fin uppermost rays within membrane. Pelvic disc with emarginate rear edge and no anterior membrane. First dorsal rays VI. Scales ctenoid, 25-29. Vertebrae 25-29.
Very small, typically offshore, eastern Atlantic species, probably cryptobenthic.
