Genus Sciadonus

Sciadonus Garman, 1899

Eyes small, sometimes not externally visible; mouth almost horizontal; palatines lacking teeth. Anterior gill arch with 11-15 short rakers. Pectoral peduncle considerably longer than broad; pelvic fin absent or with only 1 ray. Vertebral centra rectangular in adults.
