Lophiiformes

Lophiiformes have a modified first dorsal spine, the illicium. The illicium and its esca form a bait for atracting prey. No ribs. They have 5-6 branchoistegal rays. There are 2-4 pectoral radials. The pelvic fins, when present, are in front of the pectorals and consist of one spine and five soft rays.
