Genus Ciliata

Ciliata Couch, 1832

5 barbels, 1 long on chin, 1 on each anterior nostril and 2 shorter
barbels above upper lip. 2 dorsal and 1 anal fin, first dorsal reduced to a single slender ray followed by a row of smaller filamentous rays set in a shallow groove. First dorsal finray much shorter than one-half of head length.
Littoral or inshore fishes to 90 m depth. Biology and behaviour practically unknown.

Species 2 both in Clofnam area.
