Gadiformes

Gadiformes are codlike fishes without spinous rays (except in the Macrouridae). Pelvic fins, when present, consist of 5-17 rays and are thoracic, jugular or mental. Barbels usually present. There are 5-8 branchoistegal rays. The swim bladder is physoclistic and without an inner-ear connection.
