Genus Glossanodon

Glossanodon Guichenot, 1867

Body elongate, head moderate, eye large, mouth small, front tips of maxillae meeting in midline (Fig. 1). Tongue with small teeth, on front of tongue only (Fig. 2); a few scattered and small teeth on vomer and palatines, well back from front of vomer (Fig. 3). Pectoral fins low on body, nearer to belly profile than to lateral line; lateral line scales not reaching on to caudal fin.
