Genus Rouleina

Rouleina Jordan, 1923

Body moderately elongate, head moderate or large; eye large, about equal to snout and well before midpoint of head; upper jaw reaching to hind border of eye or beyond. Pyloric caeca 7-11. Dorsal and-anal fins approximately equal and opposite to each other, set far back on body. Skin deciduous, black, composed of small fluid-filled compartments; scales absent except along lateral line (ring-like scales standing on edge).
Engybenthic to pelagic on continental slope at 500 2,300 m.
