Genus Bellocia

Bellocia Parr, 1951

Body moderately elongate, compressed. Head profile straight or only a little arched over eyes, which are large; upper jaw reaching almost to hind border of eye, the maxilla deep. Pyloric caeca 7-15. Dorsal fin origin well in advance of anal fin origin, dorsal finrays 12-16, pectoral finrays 10-17, pelvic fin a little in front of dorsal fin origin, with 7-9 finrays (plus a splint bone), anal fin shorter than dorsal fin, with 9-13 finrays.
Engybenthic at 2,000-5,850 m.
