Poromitra Goode and Bean, 1883
Oral teeth uniserial. Supra-maxillary bone present. Frontal ridges on top of head crest-like with serrate margins. A conspicuous inter-narial spine present. Head pores usually single. Dorsal fin with 9-17 soft rays and II-III spines. 25-36 rows of scales from nape to caudal fin base. 3-4 scales on cheek.
Bathypelagic fishes of no commercial value. Not common.
