Genus Pteromylaeus

Pteromylaeus Garman, 1913

Head relatively long and narrowing towards snout, which is a little pointed. Teeth tesselate, in 7 rows, the middle row broadest. Dorsal fin originating before level of pelvic fin tips; pectoral fins distinctly falcate, front margin (and finrays) interrupted under eye and not joining with lobe under snout (subrostral lobe).
