Genus Myxine

Myxine Linnaeus, 1758

Body eel-like. No dorsal fin or only a trace. No oral sucking-disc. Teeth on tongue plus one on 'palate'. Barbels present. One external gill opening on each side. Intestine unciliated. Spiral fold of intestine absent. Nasohypophysial sac opening into pharynx.
