Diagnosis: body moderately elongate, its depth 6.5% TL at anal origin, entirely naked. Dorsal fin origin over middle of pectoral fin; the latter about 11% TL; preanal distance about 39% TL. Lateral line double, with midlateral and ventral branches. Colour: uniformly dark, brownish-grey; fins and underside of head lighter; peritoneum black. Size: to 14.9 cm.

Habitat. benthic on muddy bottoms at 1,848 m, with a bottom temperature of -1 °C. Food: no data. Reproduction: no data.

Distribution: between Jan Mayen I. and Iceland (single known specimen).

Eggs, larvae and young stages. No data.
