Diagnosis (females): illicium 28-54% SL; esca with a pair of truncated distal appendages shorter than diameter of bulb and surrounded 8 by 4 swellings, several tentacular branched or unbranched appendages on bulb, 1 or 2 unpaired on the distal anterior side, 1 bifurcated behind escal pore and 2 or more lateral pairs on base of bulb and distal part of illicial stem. .

Distribution: 32 known females recorded from off West Greenland to South Africa.
