Genus Eumicrotremus

Eumicrotremus Gill, 1864

Body globular, tail strongly compressed. First dorsal fin may or may not be covered by skin, but always clearly discernible; if covered by thick skin, with many small bony tubercles. Many bony tubercles present on head, body and tail. Gill openings small, entirely above level of upper pectoral finray. Sucking disc large, its length greater than half head length. Anus closer to posterior margin of disc than to anal fin origin. Pyloric caeca present 8-12. Vertebrae 26-27.
