Scopelengys Alcock, 1890Clofna

Body elongate and moderately slender; dorsal profile of head deeply concave; eye small; mouth large, jaws extending more than one eye diameter beyond vertical through posterior margin of eye. Origin of adipose fin slightly in advance of vertical through last anal finray. Scales large, cycloid, deciduous. Swimbladder absent. Photophores absent on body.
High-oceanic, bathypelagic in all tropical and subtropical waters.
