Genus Solea

Solea Quensel, 1806

Anterior nostril on blind side normal (Solea group) or enlarged (Pegusa group). Dorsal fin beginning either on upper or on anterior profile of head; pectoral fins present on both sides, with at least 7 finrays. Supratemporal branch of lateral line forming a rounded curve; scales rectangular, intercanalicular striae a little sinuous, longer than width of intercanalicular zone (Solea type).
