Sub-orbital papillae with 7 transverse rows, 4 before and 2 lower parts below longitudinal row b. No row a. Anterior and posterior oculoscapular and preopercular head canals present. Predorsal area and nape naked. Anterior nostril tubular, rim with long tentacle. Snout with median longitudinal ridge. Pectoral fin uppermost rays free from membrane. Pelvic disc complete, anterior membrane without pronounced lateral lobes. First dorsal fin VI. Scales in lateral series 29-38, ctenoid. Vertebrae 26-27.
