Odondebuenia De Buen, 1930
Sub-orbital papillae in 5 transverse rows, plus papilla near pore a; three before, none below, longitudinal row b. No row a. Anterior oculoscapular and preopercular head canals present, posterior oculoscapular canal absent. Predorsal area and head naked. Anterior nostril tubular, without process from rim. First ray most elongate of first dorsal finrays. Pectoral fin uppermost rays not free from membrane. Pelvic fins almost gparate, inner branched rays (5) connected by low membrane between bases. First dorsal rays VI. Vertebrae 28. Scales ctenoid, 24-32 in lateral series. Uppermost and lowermost scales on base of caudal fin are elongate, with lateral ctenii greatly enlarged.
A small Mediterranean species, cryptobenthic and infrequently caught.
