Sub-orbital papillae with 7 transverse rows, 5 before, and 1 lower part below, course of longitudinal row b. No row a. Two short, transverse, inter-orbital rows of papillae. Anterior oculoscapular and preopercular canals present, but no posterior oculoscapular canal. Predorsal area and head naked. Anterior nostril tubular, to above upper lip, but no process from rim. Pectoral fin uppermost 3 rays free at tips. Pelvic disc complete, anterior membrane without conspicuous lateral lobes. First dorsal finrays VI. Scales ctenoid, 28-32 in lateral series. Vertebrae 27 or 28.
