Genus Lepidion

Lepidion Swainson, 1838

Teeth present on vomer. Chin barbel present. First dorsal finrays 4-6, one prolonged. Anal fin partly indented.
Benthopelagic. Some species locally abundant, some quite rare.
Larval stages probably pelagic.

Species about 10; in Clofnam area 4.
