Opisthoproctus Vaillant, 1888
Body laterally compressed and rathet short, not elongate. Eyes tubular, dorsally directed. Belly with a flat, scale-covered 'sole' that serves as a reflector for a rectal light organ. Ventral fin closer to dorsal fin than to pectoral fin. Dorsal adipose fin present.
