Narcetes Alcock, 1890

Body moderately elongate. Snout pointed, eye moderate, upper jaw reaching well beyond it; teeth in more than one series. Pyloric caeca 8-14. Dorsal and anal fins almost equal, dorsal origin in advance of anal origin; dorsal finrays 14-21, pectoral finrays 8-11, pelvic finrays 8-9 (plus a splint bone), anal finrays 11-17.
