Sargocentron Fowler, 1904

Last dorsal spine located midway between penultimate dorsal spine and first dorsal ray. Lower jaw equal or shorter than upper. Upper lobe of caudal fin and front of dorsal (soft) rays not elongated.

Habitat: inshore waters, close to bottom in depth 50-100 m. Food: benthic. Reproduction: no data.

Distribution: one record off Portugal. Elsewhere, West Africa, from Cape Verde to Angola.
