Genus Pisodonophis

Pisodonophis Kaup, 1856

Body elongate, anus in anterior half. Snout sub-conical, lower jaw included, anterior nostril tubular, posterior along lower edge of lip or opening into mouth. Teeth molariform or granular, multiserial on jaws and vomer, largest on premaxillae. Dorsal, anal and pectoral fins well developed, dorsal fin origin above or anterior to gill openings; caudal fin absent, caudal extremity hardened.
