Genus Enchelycore

Enchelycore Kaup, 1856

Body elongate. Only anterior nostril tubular (at front of snout), posterior nostril a single pore, near upper anterior eye margin. Jaws arched, many teeth exposed when mouth closed; teeth caniniform, elongate, edges not serrated. Gill openings restricted to a small roundish lateral pore. Dorsal fin origin above or just before gill opening; dorsal and anal fins confluent with caudal fin; pectoral and pelvic fins absent.
