Genus Centroscyllium

Centroscyllium Müller and Henle, 1841

Snout in front of mouth equal to or less than half distance from snout to origin of pectoral fins. Pre-oral clefts slightly expanded inwardly. Teeth in both jaws similar, with 3-5 cusps, the median much larger. Inner corner of pectoral fin rounded; dorsal fin spines with lateral grooves; caudal peduncle without pre-caudal notches and without lateral longitudinal ridges; caudal fin with sub-terminal notch. Dermal denticles thorn-like, with stellate bases.

Species about 3-6; in Clofnam area I (a revision of this genus is needed).
